THE STUDY ON THE EFFICACY OF NAPROXEN AS ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ANALGESICS IN ORAL SURGERY

Abstract
Naproxen is a new compound produced by Nynex researchers which has been shown by Rosskovrski et al. (1971) to have anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity. The author has studied on the efficacy of Naproxen as anti-inflammatory and analgesics in oral surgery. The study has been performed such as following items I) the efficacy of analgesics in the 40 patients with teeth extraction given Naproxen 250 mg. bbd., p.o., for a day. or not, 2) The efficacy of removal of Costen¡¯s syndromes and stability of the temporo-mandibular joint disorders in the 20 patients given Naproxen 250 mg. t. i. d., p.o., for 7 days or not, and 3) the efficacy of anti-edematic activity in the 40 patients with diseases such as cysts, osteomyelitis, fractures, cleft lip, cleft palate and tumors etc. given Naproxen 250 mg. b. i. d., p.o., for 3 day. The conclusions were drawn as follows. I. Naproxen is a effective drug to control postoperative pain in the teeth extraction patients. 2. Naproxen is one of the most effective drugs to treat the patients with temporo-mandibular joint disorders such as osteo-arthritis. Naproxen is a effective drug to prevent postoperative swelling in the oral surgery patients with cysts, osteomyelitis, fractures, cleft lips, cleft palates and tumors.
